By transferring your domain name to us you'll get great service, free features and competitive prices. The transfer process varies slightly for different domain extensions, but moving your domain name to LCN.com is really simple and our guide below will help you move your domain, whatever the extension may be.

When transferring a domain name, our system will automatically bring the current nameservers across. If you are looking to move all your services to the LCN.com (email and website) straight away, please be sure to reset the nameservers to point to us. A guide on how to do this can be found below:

How to reset your Nameservers

UK domains (.co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .uk)

  1. Go to the domain transfers page.
  2. Enter your domain in to the transfer form and click Continue.
  3. If you are an existing customer login to your LCN.com account, otherwise create a new account.
  4. If your domain is more than 1 month from its expiry date the transfer is free. If it's not, you simply pay the normal 2 year renewal fee, extending the domain for 2 more years.
  5. Once the domain has been associated with your LCN account, you need to instruct your current registrar to change the IPS Tag on it , so our system can complete the transfer. This needs to be changed to LCN.

Note: The speed of the transfer relies on how quickly your current registrar releases your domain. This normally completes within 24 hours.

All other domains (.com, .net, .info etc...)

Before you can start the transfer process you will need to do the following:

  • Make sure you have access to the email address for the registered owner of your domain, check the WHOIS output for your domain to find this out.
  • Unlock your domain and request its Authorisation Code (also know as EPP Code) with your current registrar.

Once this is done you can proceed with the transfer, following the instructions below:

  1. Go to the domain transfers page.
  2. Enter your domain in to the transfer form and click Continue.
  3. In the Auth Code field enter the authorisation code (also known as an EPP code) you received from your current registrar.
  4. Click Continue and the transfer will be added to your basket. This includes an extra year registration.
  5. If you are an existing customer login to your LCN.com account, otherwise create a new account.
  6. Once you have paid for the transfer we will send the registered owner and admin contacts an email asking for authorisation of the transfer request.
  7. If no response is received from either contact, the transfer request will time-out after 7 days.
  8. 5 days after the transfer request is confirmed, the transfer is executed. If successful we will place the domain into your LCN account.

Note: The speed of the transfer relies on how quickly you authorise the emails that are sent to the registered owner and admin contacts on the domain. This normally completes between 7-10 days.
