This guide will explain how to transfer your domain name to LCN. Moving your domain is simple and by transferring it to us you'll get great service, free features and competitive prices!

The transfer process varies depending on the type of domain you trying to move, however we’ve got you covered.

Please note: When transferring your domain to LCN we’ll keep your nameservers the same. If you’re moving your website and email services to us, you may need to update these using this guide.

We’ve done the hard work for you and provided multiple step by step guides below for the leading domain name providers:

Let’s get started...

Transferring UK domains (.co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .uk) to LCN

  1. Go to the domain transfers page.
  2. Enter your domain in the Domain name field and click +.

  3. Please note: a maximum of 20 domains can be transferred in one transaction.

  4. Click CONTINUE
  5. If your domain is more than one month from its expiry date the transfer is free. If not, you have the option to renew for a year which you can pay for whilst setting up the transfer.
  6. If you’re an existing customer login to your LCN account, otherwise create a new account.
  7. Once the transfer has been set up, you’ll need to instruct your current registrar to change your domain’s IPS tag. This needs to be changed to LCN.

Note: The speed of the transfer relies on how quickly your current registrar releases your domain. This normally completes within 24 hours.

Transferring all other domains (.com, .net, .info, etc...) to LCN

Before starting the transfer process, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Make sure you have access to the email address for the registered owner of the domain. If you’re unsure what this is, you can check using this whois lookup tool
  • Ask your current domain provider to unlock the domain and provide you with the domain’s Authorisation Code (also known as an EPP Code)

Once this is done you can proceed with the transfer, using the instructions below:

  1. Go to the domain transfers page.
  2. Enter your domain in the Domain name field and click +.

  3. Please note: a maximum of 20 domains can be transferred in one transaction.

  4. Click CONTINUE
  5. The domain transfer will be added to your basket. The cost includes a one year extension to your domain’s expiry date.
  6. If you’re an existing customer login to your LCN account, otherwise create a new account.
  7. Once the transfer has been initiated, we’ll send an email to the registrant and admin email address asking for the Auth code (EPP code).
  8. We’ll also send an email to the registrant and admin email address asking for the transfer to be authorised. Once authorised, the transfer will take five days to complete.
  9. If the transfer isn’t authorised, it’ll time out after seven days and the process will need to be re-started.

Please note: The speed of the transfer relies on how quickly you authorise the emails that are sent to the registered owner and admin contacts on the domain.
