Frequently asked questions about Microsoft 365
What is Microsoft 365?
Microsoft 365 is a subscription service that brings all the business tools and applications you may need together, in one package. It includes popular programmes like Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and OneDrive so you really can run your office from anywhere in the world – all you need is an internet connection.
Do you need an internet connection to use Microsoft 365?
Not always, but you will need to connect to the internet to activate Microsoft 365 and to use any of the cloud-based services such as Exchange Email, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and Office Online Apps.
In order to work offline, you’ll need to have the desktop version of Microsoft 365 installed on your PC or Mac. The desktop version comes included with our Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Business Premium packages so you will always have access whether online or offline. If you work offline, your files will automatically sync with your OneDrive cloud storage as soon as you get online.

Do I need a domain name to use Microsoft 365?
Yes, all Microsoft 365 services are associated to a domain name and email address so when we set it all up initially, the link to your domain name is verified.
I already have a domain name, what do I need to do?
If you’ve registered a domain name with us, you enter it in the cart when purchasing your Microsoft 365 subscription. Our team will get you set up based on that domain and will let you know when your package is ready for you to use.
If your domain is registered elsewhere, that’s no problem - you simply enter it in the cart when buying your package and then you’ll receive an email directing you to your Online Control Panel. Once there, you can complete 'Manual Setup’ of your Microsoft 365 package.
Can I still use Microsoft 365 if I already have a website?
Yes, it’s no problem. If your website name is registered with us, its easy to set up your Microsoft 365 subscription by changing your DNS records accordingly.
If your domain is registered with another provider, you’ll need to change your DNS records with them. You can find out how on your Access Microsoft 365 page within your Online Control Panel.
What happens to my current email plan if I start using Exchange Email?
If you have an email account already set up with any of our products e.g. web hosting, we won’t automatically switch your email when you purchase Microsoft 365. Instead, you are given the option to switch your email over to Exchange within your Online Control Panel.
When you make the switch, your new emails will start to arrive in your Exchange inbox and will no longer go to your previous service. Any existing emails will remain within your previous inbox but if you’d like to migrate them over, simply get in touch and we’ll talk you through your options.
Why can’t I see all the Microsoft programmes when I go to the installation page?
The programmes available differ for each Microsoft 365 package and what you can install also depends on where you are installing them - a PC or a Mac.
On a PC you can install Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Publisher. On a Mac, Microsoft programmes include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote.
What is Azure Information Protection?
It’s an additional security application that runs alongside Microsoft 365. Azure Information Protection gives users full control of their data and user permissions. Plus, they can protect and encrypt emails and documents to ensure safety and privacy.
