What is cloud hosting?
Cloud hosting is a more resilient and flexible environment than traditional dedicated or virtual servers. VPS (virtual private server) hosting and dedicated servers aren’t as scalable as a cloud solution, with their resources and storage capacity are largely fixed.
Our cloud servers give you the power to flex your resources up and down to fit your changing needs, plus they’re balanced across different data centres for maximum uptime.
What level of performance can I expect?
Our cloud hosting servers have been optimised for performance, so simply put our servers are rapid! We use only the best components, including 10-core CPUs, 2133MHz high-speed RAM and the latest SSD technology.
It’s worth noting that even though we’ve optimised our cloud technology for performance, it’s important to choose a package with enough resources to meet your application’s demands.
Do I get root access?
Yup, all our cloud hosting server packages allow for root access to the server. But we don’t recommend it for most users. Here’s why:
We strongly advise against using root access unless you really know what you’re doing. You need to have a solid working knowledge to use the command line confidently, otherwise you run the real risk of breaking it. This is especially true of VestaCP and cPanel, where if you’re not 100% confident in what you are doing, the changes you make could end up breaking VestaCP and cPanel completely.
Can I make backups?
Yes, backups are available as an optional extra from your account once your cloud hosting has been set up. You can create one-off backups of your server or set up regular backups to run at a time scheduled by you.
How does billing work?
You can pay for your cloud hosting server monthly, quarterly or yearly. We’ll charge your card every 30 days so long as there is a card available in your account. Since you’re not locked into a contract, you can also cancel at any time.
Just to be clear: you’re not locked-in to a contract. Refunds are only available 30 days after your first purchase.
What level of support can I expect to receive?
Our cloud hosting is provided as an unmanaged service, which means you as the end user are responsible for looking after the day-to-day management of your cloud server. Of course we’re always around in case you have a query or require some assistance, but it’s important that you do have enough knowledge to manage your server in majority of instances.
