How to install WordPress in Plesk

This guide will explain how to install WordPress for domains in Plesk using either the Power-user or Service-provider interfaces.

Power User view

Follow these steps to install WordPress to a domain in Plesk using the Power-user interface:

  1. Open the Applications menu from the left column of the Plesk panel.
  2. Click Install below the WordPress application from the Featured Applications section of the page.
  3. Use the drop-down menu from the following page to select the domain name/web-space that you want to install WordPress to.
  4. If you want to install WordPress to a sub-folder, enter the folder name into the blank field alongside the domain name/web-space.
  5. Click the Install button to install WordPress to the selected location.
  6. Wait for the progress bar to complete and the page should then re-load.
  7. Select change login settings to view the admin username/password for WordPress or to set new login details for the WordPress dashboard.
  8. To log in to the dashboard for WordPress click the link Log in to Admin Dashboard, then enter the admin username/password for the application.

Service Provider view

  1. Open the domains menu from the left column of the Plesk panel.
  2. Click the domain name that you want to install WordPress to from the list on the following page.
  3. Click the Applications link from the domain name control panel.
  4. Click Install below the WordPress application from the Featured Applications section of the page.
  5. Wait for the progress bar to complete and the page should then re-load.
  6. Select show below the settings section for the application on the following page to view the default admin password for WordPress.
  7. Click the Change settings button to set a different admin username/password for WordPress, or to manage database login details and auto-update preferences. Select OK at the bottom of the page to apply any changes made to the settings.
  8. To log in to the dashboard for WordPress click the link for Administrative interface.
