How to transfer your domain name away from us

Thinking of leaving? We pride ourselves on being great value for money and having the best customer service, so please contact us if you think we can do better. We’ll be happy to review your account and the services we provide you before you go ahead with your domain transfer.

If you do decide to leave LCN, all DNS within our Nameservers will cease if you are not using us for any hosting services.

Let’s get started…

Transferring UK domains (.co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .uk)

  1. Log in to your LCN account and click on Control Panel
  1. Next click the Domain you would like to transfer.
  1. Then click Domain Transfers located at the bottom of the page.
  1. You will be provided with options for connecting your domain to another provider. This includes changing your DNS settings or Nameservers. However, if you would like to continue with the transfer you will want to click the line Click here to change the Nominet TAG

Please Note: If you are moving the domain under the request of your new designer, developer or hosting company, we recommend getting in contact with the support team to see if moving your domain is required for what you are trying to achieve.

  1. If you have Domain Proxy enabled you will be asked to confirm you are happy to have this removed to be able to initiate your transfer and click Confirm.
  1. Enter your new IPS Tag followed by a small description behind the reason you have chosen to leave.
  1. Click Proceed.

Transferring all other domains (.com, .net, .info, etc…)

If your domain name is:

  • Less than 60 days old
  • Has been transferred to us within the last 60 days
  • Has had it’s owner details updated and is now under a 60-day transfer lock.

you won’t be able to transfer the domain. For more details see the ICANN Transfer Policy

Before you start the transfer, make sure you have access to the email address for the registered owner of your domain.

Once this is done you can proceed with the transfer, using the instructions below:

  1. Log in to your LCN account and click on Control Panel
  1. Next click the Domain you would like to transfer.
  1. Now click Domain Transfers located at the bottom of the page.
  1. Next, you will be provided with options for connecting your domain to another provider. This includes changing your DNS settings or Nameservers. However, if you would like to continue with the transfer you will want to click the line Click here to transfer your domain away from LCN.

Please Note: If you are moving the domain under the request of your new designer, developer or hosting company, we recommend getting in contact with the support team to see if moving your domain is required for what you are trying to achieve.

  1. You will now be presented with some information. Make sure you read it through then enter the Email address you would like to have your authorisation code sent to.
  1. Click Proceed

Once a request to transfer your domain is received from the registrar you are transferring to, authorisation emails will be sent to the registrant contact email. If there is no acknowledgement from the owner or admin contacts, the transfer will remain with LCN.

If the domain is not transferred within 60-days of your transfer request it will be returned to a locked state. This is to prevent any unauthorised or fraudulent transfer from occurring.

That’s it! You have now started your outbound transfer from LCN. We hope to see you back with us in the future.
