How to use DNS Templates
This guide will show LCN customers how to use DNS Templates. The templates will allow you to easily point your domain name to the correct service LCN are providing, this ranges from Website Hosting, Website Builder and Email.
Let’s get started…
- First login to your LCN Account and head to your Control Panel.
- Click on the domain you wish to update.
- Next click DNS Settings.
- Scroll to the header titled Templates
- Click the drop-down to select a template.
- Choose the template you would like to apply:
- Full Templates – Will apply all the DNS settings for a chosen hosting.
- Partial Templates – Will apply just DNS for the service you wish to us, for example just Email or just web hosting.
- Custom Templates – You own custom template. You can learn how to make your own template in the 2nd half of this guide.
Please Note: If you are using your own DNS settings, we would recommend using partial templates rather than full. If you choose an incorrect template you can use your DNS snapshot to revert your change.
That’s it! You have now applied a DNS template to your domain.
Please note: Any changes in DNS settings can take up to 24 hours to propagate. For more information on propagation, we have a guide here.
Creating a custom template
If you have your own DNS settings which you would like to apply to multiple domains you can create your own template.
To do this you will need to…
- First login to your LCN Account.
- Click on the domain you wish to update.
- Next click DNS Settings.
- Click DNS Templates to the left.
- Click Add Template
- Fill out your template accordingly with the settings you will want to use.
- Click Save.
That’s it! You have now created your own DNS template. You can now choose this template as noted earlier in this guide.
