How to add document links in Instantsite

Please note: This guide is for legacy InstantSite pruchsed before the 18th August 2020. If you have our new InstantSite please see guides specific for our new builder found here.

Document links allow you to upload and add links to documents like .pdf files, spreadsheets, Word documents and various other file types. This guide is designed to show LCN InstantSite customers how to upload and link to documents within the InstantSite editor.

You can link to documents in InstantSite using the following types of page elements:

  • Text
  • Images
  • Buttons
  • Icons

Supported File Types

The following file types can be added to the InstantSite document library: .txt, .csv, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlst, .ppt, .pps, .pptx, .ppsx, .ods, .odp, .odt.The maximum file-size supported for documents added to the library is 10MB.

  1. Select the Edit Text button within the text element where you want to insert a document link:
  2. Click the Link button:
  3. Click Document.
  4. Enter the text that you want to be displayed for your document link into the Text field.
  5. Click Select File, then select an existing document from the document library, or select Upload Document to upload a file from your computer to the image library. Then click Confirm after selecting the document that you want to link to.
  6. Click Insert to add the document link into your text box.
  1. Select the image that you want to add a document link to.
  2. Select the image settings icon:
  3. Select Link from the button settings menu
  4. Click Document.
  5. Click Select File, then select an existing document from the document library, or select Upload Document to upload a file from your computer to the image library. Then click Confirm after selecting the document that you want to link to.
  6. Click Insert to add the document link to your image.

  2. Select the button settings icon:
  3. Select Link from the button settings menu
  4. Click Document.
  5. Click Select File, then select an existing document from the document library, or select Upload Document to upload a file from your computer to the image library. Then click Confirm after selecting the document that you want to link to.
  6. Click Insert to add the document link to your button.
  1. Select the icon that you want to add a document link to.
  2. Select the icon settings icon:
  3. Select Link from the button settings menu
  4. Click Document.
  5. Click Select File, then select an existing document from the document library, or select Upload Document to upload a file from your computer to the image library. Then click Confirm after selecting the document that you want to link to.
  6. Click Insert to add the document link to your icon.

That’s it! You now know how to upload and link to a document within your site.
