How to set up your email account in Mac Mail

This guide will show you how to set up your email address on Mac Mail, for customers using LCN web hosting, WordPress hosting, Email hosting or a free mailbox.

Before you start, you’ll need to know the email address and password for the account you’re looking to set up. If you are unsure of these details they can be found in your LCN account.

Let’s get started…

  1. Open Mac Mail and go to Mail in the top left, then Preferences In the box that appears click Accounts.
  2. Click the + icon in the bottom left of the accounts list to add a new account.
  3. Please Note: If this is your first-time using Mac Mail you may automatically be at Choose a Mail account provider…

  4. From Choose a Mail account provider… select Other Mail Account and click Continue.
  5. Enter a Name for your account as well as the Email Address and Password.
  6. You will now be presented with a box to confirm the rest of your account details. Fill these in as follows:
    • Email Address: Enter your email address if not already showing.
    • Username: Your username will be your email address.
    • Password: Your mailbox password.
    • Account Type: Either POP or IMAP.
    • Please Note: If you have a free mailbox you can only set up as IMAP.

    • Outgoing Mail Server:

  7. Once all of the above has been filled in click Sign In.
  8. You will now be asked what you would like to use this account for, Mail and Notes, make sure Mail is selected and click Done.

That’s it! You’ve set up your email address on Mac Mail!
