How to set up separate FTP accounts

An FTP account allows you to manage your website files on your hosting space with us. If you want to give a colleague or web designer access to your web files, but don’t want to give them your LCN account username and password, you can create a separate FTP account for them.

Let’s get started…

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Click the Hosting icon, then click Manage Site for the hosting you want to add an FTP account to.
  3. Click Manage FTP Accounts from the FTP Details section.
  4. Click the Add FTP Account button.
  5. In the FTP Username field enter a prefix for your new FTP user.
  6. Please Note: All FTP usernames will end in your domain name with the dots replaced with underscores e.g. username_domain_com.

  7. In the FTP Password field enter a password.
  8. Please Note: To make sure your chosen password is secure you will need to make sure that it is at least 10 characters long. The system will also check to make sure the provided password is considered strong enough. Simple passwords such as a name or city will likely be too easy to guess or crack and considered not secure. 9. Click the Add FTP Account button.

That’s it! You have now made another FTP account.
