How to create a database in Plesk

This guide will explain how to create databases for domains in Plesk using either the Power-user or Service-provider interfaces.

Power User interface

Follow these steps to create a new database in Plesk with the Power-user interface:

  1. Open the databases menu from the left column of the Plesk panel.
  2. Click the domain name/subscription you want to add a database for.
  3. Click the add database button.
  4. Enter a Database name after the prefix that’s automatically filled in.
  5. The Create a database user tick-box should be enabled by default.
  6. Enter a database username.
  7. Enter a password for the database and re-enter into the confirm password field or select generate to automatically generate a strong password.
  8. Select the Access Control settings for the database. It’s recommended to select Allow local connections only unless you need to access the database remotely. If you need to enable remote access to the database, you can enable connections from any host or restrict access to specific IP addresses by selecting the Allow remote connections from option and then entering a list of the allowed IP addresses.
  9. Select the OK button to create the database.
