How to manage your Location Restrictions

As an important security measure we automatically restrict access to your LCN account to just the account holder’s country of residence, even if the person attempting to access the account has the correct details. To provide an example, if when creating your account you provided LCN with a UK billing address, access to the LCN account Control Panel would therefore be restricted to UK IP addresses only.

This guide will show LCN customers how to manage these settings.

Let’s get started…

Why change your location restrictions?

There are several situations in which you would wish to allow Control Panel access from other countries or IP addresses and so we provide the ability to do that from your account Security Settings.

For example:

  • You are going abroad and would like to continue managing your account whilst away. In preparation of your trip you should pre-authorise access from the appropriate country before your travels.
  • You have someone in another country who will be managing various elements of the account on your behalf. You can either authorise access from their country or, if they have a static IP address for that person, you can just allow that one IP instead.

How to allow a new IP or country access

If you are in one of the above situations you can follow the steps below on how to add a new country or IP and provide them access to your LCN account.

To do this you will need to…

  1. First, Log in your LCN account and head to your Control Panel.
  2. Float your mouse over Account and then click on Security Settings
  3. Scroll to the section titled Location Restrictions.
  4. You will now see the list of countries and IPs currently allowed to access your LCN account and which domains from your account you allow access to. By default, this will be just your account country and will have access to all domains in your account.
  5. To now add a new country or IP click Add New Country/IP
  6. You will be presented with a form; firstly, select which domains you would like the new country or IP to have access to within your account. If you would like them to be able to access all your domains choose Global (all domains).
  7. Next, Choose a country you are granting access to from the drop-down box on the left. Or enter the IP Address of the person you wish to grant access to in the right-hand box.
  8. Once you are happy with your selection click Save.

That’s it! You have now added a new country or IP access to your LCN account.

How to remove access to a country or IP

If you have allowed access that you would now like to remove you will need to…

  1. Log in your LCN account and go to your Control Panel.
  2. Float your mouse over Account and then click on Security Settings.
  3. Scroll to the section titled Location Restrictions.
  4. You will see the list of allowed countries and IPs currently allowed to access your LCN account and which domains from your account you allow access to. By default, this will be just your account country and will have access to all domains in your account.
  5. If you have provided access to another country or IP you will see it listed, to remove it simply click the X icon to the right of that entry.

That’s it! You have now removed country or IP from accessing your LCN account.

Note that you cannot remove the default country assignment, as that is set by us. You can freely remove any additional countries you have added yourself but not the default one.
