*****Update @ 07:45*****
Affected VPS' are now being brought back into service. These will still be running with degraded performance until the re-allocation has been completed in its entirety.
Although we ultimately need to wait for the re-allocation to finish before normal service resumes, we will be working this morning to look at ways to improve performance whilst this re-allocation happens.
Further updates will be posted here regularly to keep you informed.
Once again, we thank you for your patience whilst we work to resolve this issue.
*****Update @ 02:25*****
Our engineers are still working on this issue. The problem is related to a RAID array on one of our VPS storage systems. We have had to rebuild the raid array and allow it to re-allocate its data across all disks within the array. This re-allocation of data has degraded the performance of the storage SAN whilst this operation takes place. Unfortunately normal performance levels will not resume until it has completed this re-allocation of data.
In an effort to speed up the re-allocation our engineers took the VPS' connected to it offline at midnight to ease the load on the storage SAN. Although this has helped a lot to speed up the re-allocation of data, we are estimating that it will still take another 25 hours whilst VPS' are offline.
To ensure the re-allocation is completed as quickly as possible we will be leaving the affected VPS' offline until 8am and will then bring them back online. We anticipate we will need two further ten hour maintenance windows to complete the re-allocation and these will be scheduled over the next 2 days from midnight to 10am.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused and please be rest assured we are treating this with the very highest priority and will do our very best to minimise disruption.
*****Update @ 00:05*****
As part of the continued upgrade work our engineers will be temporarily shutting down the VPS platform.
Although this will cause the virtual servers to go offline, it is necessary to take this action during a less busy period, so we can hopefully alleviate the issue outside of core UK business hours.
Once again, we apologise for any inconvience this may cause you. Please be rest assured that we are doing everything we can to address this issue and will be working through the night to resume normal service.
*****Update @ 20:30*****
Our engineers are continuing to work on this issue as a matter of priority.
At present we are performing upgrades which will complete at approximately 10.30pm to help reduce the load on the platform.
We expect reduced performance on the VPS platform until this work is completed.
*****Update @ 17:00*****
Our engineers have identified an issue on our VPS hosting platform and are currently carrying out work to resolve the problem.
There is likely to be continued slowness on the VPS service for a number of hours this evening while this emergency maintenance is completed.
An update regarding progress on this investigation will be provided as soon as one is available.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
Thanks for your continued patience and understanding.
