This guide will cover how you can update your database for customers using LCN Web Hosting<\/a> or WordPress Hosting<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to change your Default charset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You may find that you need a specific charset for your database. You would have selected this when you set up your Database but can be changed directly from your LCN account. To do this you will need to\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. First Log in to you\u00a0LCN account<\/a>\u00a0and head to your\u00a0Control Panel<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    1. Next click on the Domain which has the Database you would like to update.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      1. Then click\u00a0Hosting Settings\u00a0<\/strong>followed by\u00a0MySQL<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        1. Next click on the Database name you would like to update. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
          1. From the box for Default charset<\/strong> <\/strong>you can now choose a new charset from the drop down provided. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
            1. Once you are happy with your choice click Save<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              That\u2019s it! You have now updated your Default charset.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              How to update your Database user password<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              Your users will have a password to access your database which you would have created when you made your database, users may be tied to your website so be aware you may need to update your websites configuration file after you change the password. We have a guide on how to do this for WordPress websites here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              To reset your Database user password you will need to…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. Log in to you\u00a0LCN account<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0move\u00a0to your\u00a0Control Panel<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                1. Now cick on the Domain which has the Database you would like to update.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                  1. Then click\u00a0Hosting Settings\u00a0<\/strong>followed by\u00a0MySQL<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                    1. Click on the Username<\/strong> you would like to update located under Database users<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                      1. In the New password<\/strong> <\/strong>box enter your desired password and Confirm password <\/strong>in the second box. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        Please note: <\/strong>Make sure your chosen password is secure it is recommended to be 5 to 8 characters long and include at least 3 of the following: Lower case letter, upper case letter, number, special character.                         1. Scroll down and click Save<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                          That\u2019s it! You have now updated your Database user password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          How to change your Database user privileges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                          If you need to update a database users\u2019 permissions to allow them more less privileges, you can do this from your LCN account as well. You will find these settings under the Database user<\/strong> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          You will find a full list of options and you can choose which you would like for this specific user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          To do this you will need to\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          1. Log in to you LCN account<\/a> and move to your Control Panel<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                            1. Then click on the Domain which has the Database you would like to update.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                              1. Next click\u00a0Hosting Settings\u00a0<\/strong>followed by\u00a0MySQL<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                1. Click on the Username<\/strong> you would like to update located under Database users<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                  1. Underneath your password reset options you will find a list of privileges. Tick and untick these as you require. To find out more about each privilege float your mouse over the i<\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/strong>provided. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                    1. When you are happy with your changes click Save<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
