Now let\u2019s now take a look at how you can add an MX record. If you would like to understand the differences in DNS settings you can find this here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s get started\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Login to your LCN Account<\/a>. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    1. Click on the domain you wish to update from your Control Panel. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      1. Click DNS Settings<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        If this is the first time you have ever been to the DNS page for your domain, you may see a box appear entitled\u202fActivate Advanced DNS<\/strong>.<\/em> You will need to tick the confirmation tickbox and click\u202fActivate<\/strong> to reveal your full DNS settings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Scroll down to Mail exchange records<\/strong>. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
          \n

          Please Note: <\/strong>By default, you will have 1 or 2 records already in place. Rather than add a new record you can edit your existing record if you are changing your mail provider. Having multiple records for different providers may cause mail sent to your domain to get lost. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

          1. Enter the H<\/strong>ost<\/strong> <\/strong>name<\/strong> for your record. This is where you would like your MX record to be. This is usually left blank unless you require the record to be on a subdomain. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
            1. If you have Domain Proxy for your domain, you will be able to select your TTL<\/strong>. You can leave this blank and it will default the TTL<\/strong> for you. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
              1. Enter the Priority<\/strong> of the record you are adding. The priority of an MX record must be an integer. Mail will first attempt to deliver to the MX record with the lowest priority number. If there are multiple records of the same priority, mail will be delivered randomly to one or the other.  <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                1. Enter the Result<\/strong>, this will be the hostname of your mail server.  <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  Please Note: <\/strong>If you are using your own domain for your mail sever make sure you have an A record for the hostname. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

                  That\u2019s it! You have now edited or edited your MX records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Deleting an MX record <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                  To delete an MX record simply remove the records from your list and click Save<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Please Note: <\/strong>The Delete <\/strong>is used when you would like to delete ALL your records and not just one. Do not use this unless you want to remove ALL your records. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
