For older versions of Outlook please see our guide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lcn.com\/support\/articles\/how-to-archive-imap-messages-in-outlook-2007-slash-2010-slash-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Creating an Archive Data-File in Outlook<\/h3>\n<p>If you do not have a local folder location or data file within Outlook for archiving messages, you can follow the steps below to create a new data file.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"step_by_step\">\n<li>Go to the <strong>File<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Open the <strong>Account Settings<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the tab within the account settings menu for <strong>Data Files<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Add<\/strong> to create a new data file (.pst file).<\/li>\n<li>Enter a file-name for the data file and select a location if required then select <strong>Ok<\/strong> to create the new data file. <\/li>\n<li>Close the <strong>Account Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>You should see now that a new folder location has been added within the folders pane in Outlook.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on the folder heading to add sub-folders to copy your mail items to.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><video width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" controls loop autoplay muted><source src=\"\/support\/articles\/attachment\/792\/inline\/original\/1564566021\/CreateArchive.mp4\">Your browser does not support the video tag.<\/video><\/p>\n<h3>Archiving Messages in Outlook<\/h3>\n<p><P>After creating an archive location and data file you can copy messages from your IMAP mailbox to folders created under this data file by highlighting the messages you want to archive in your IMAP account and dragging and dropping them in to the required folder under this data-file. The messages will then be moved to the selected location and automatically removed from your IMAP mailbox on the LCN server.<\/p>\n<p><video width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" controls loop autoplay muted><source src=\"\/support\/articles\/attachment\/793\/inline\/original\/1564566041\/MoveEmailsToArchive.mp4\">Your browser does not support the video tag.<\/video><\/p>\n<p>You can also use the auto-archiving features in Outlook by going to the <strong>File<\/strong> menu and selecting <strong>Tools<\/strong>, then selecting <strong>Clean Up Old Items<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Select the folder that you want to archive, set a date range to archive messages for and select the data file location that the archived messages should be moved to.
