This guide will explain how to change your WordPress database password for customers using LCN.com\u202fweb hosting<\/a>\u202fand\u202fWordPress hosting<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve installed WordPress or you are using our WordPress hosting, simply follow the steps listed below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s get started\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changing the password <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
  1. Login to\u00a0your\u00a0LCN account<\/a>\u00a0and move your\u00a0Control Panel<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    1. Click\u202fthe domain you wish to perform a change to. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      1. Click Hosting Settings <\/strong>followed by MySQL<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        1. You will now see your MySQL Databases <\/strong>for that domain. Click the Database name <\/strong>for the one you wish to update. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
          1. Next click on the Username <\/strong>being used to access the Database by your WordPress site. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
            1. Enter a New Password<\/strong> in the first box. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Please Note:<\/strong>\u202fTo make sure your chosen password is secure you will need to make sure that it is at least 8 characters long, it must also include at least 3 of the following: Lower case letter, upper case letter, number, special character.               1. Followed by Confirm Password<\/strong> in the second box. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                1. You can adjust the other settings if needed, other wise scroll down to the bottom and click Save.<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  Success! You\u2019ve changed your WordPress database password. Making this change will cause your website to display an\u202fError establishing a database connection<\/strong>\u202fmessage until you\u2019ve completed the steps listed in the second half of this guide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Updating the WordPress configuration file <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                  Now you\u2019ll need to update the password in the WordPress configuration file. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  To do this you will need to access your hosting using FTP which you can learn more about\u202fhere<\/a>. Alternatively, you can use File Manager which you can find out more about here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  The below instructions will cover how to make this change via FTP.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  1. Using your FTP client, navigate to the\u202fWeb<\/strong>\u202ffolder <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                    1. Right-click the\u202fwp-config.php<\/strong>\u202ffile and select\u202fView\/Edit<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                      1. Select\u202fUse default editor for text files<\/strong>\u202fand click\u202fOK<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                        1. Once the file has opened, find the section below: <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                          define(\u2018DB_PASSWORD\u2019, \u2018oldPassword123!\u2019); <\/pre>\n<\/br>\n\n\n\n
                          1. Replace the password inside the quotation marks with the new database password you chose earlier <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                            1. Click the\u202fX<\/strong>\u202fin the top right of your text editor to close it <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                              1. You\u2019ll be prompted to save the file you\u2019ve just edited, click\u202fSave<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                1. A box will appear notifying you that\u202fA file previously opened has been changed.<\/strong>\u202fClick\u202fYes<\/strong>. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
