This guide will show you how to set up your email account on Hotmail\/Outlook.com. For customers using LCN\u202fWeb hosting<\/a>, WordPress hosting<\/a>,\u202fEmail hosting<\/a>\u202for\u00a0LiteMail\u00a0with an Authenticated SMTP.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before you get started,\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0need to have your email address and password handy. If you can\u2019t remember these details, you can check and reset them from\u00a0your\u00a0LCN account<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will also need to ensure you have Authenticated SMTP enabled. You can find out how to do this\u00a0here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Automatic IMAP Setup for Outlook.com\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
  1. Log in to your Outlook.com\/Hotmail account. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    1. Next select the cog icon towards the top-right of the page.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      1. Then select\u202fView all Outlook settings<\/strong>\u202flocated at the bottom right-hand corner.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        1. Select\u202fSync email<\/strong>\u202ffrom the\u202fEmail<\/strong>\u202fsection. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
          1. Choose\u202fOther email accounts<\/strong>. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
            1. You\u2019ll\u00a0then be prompted to enter the following settings:\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
              • Display Name:<\/strong>\u202fThis name will be displayed on outgoing messages you send from the account.\u00a0<\/li>
              • Email Address:<\/strong>\u202fEnter the full email address that you want to connect.\u00a0<\/li>

                          1. Choose\u202fOther email accounts<\/strong>. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                                1. Tick the option\u202fManually configure account settings<\/strong>, then select\u202fOK<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                  1. Enter your\u202fUsername<\/strong>. Your username is your email address. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                    1. Select the type of connection that you want to use for your account:\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                      • IMAP\/SMTP:<\/strong>\u202fThe folders for your mailbox will be synced with the LCN mail server\u00a0and will allow you to send an email via Authenticated SMTP.<\/li>
                                      • POP\/SMTP:<\/strong>\u202fMessages will be downloaded from the LCN server and stored in your Outlook.com mailbox. Sent messages and other folders will not be synced with the LCN mail server\u00a0and will allow you to send an email via Authenticated SMTP.\u00a0<\/li>
                                      • SMTP only:<\/strong>\u202fSupports outgoing mail\u00a0only\u00a0via Authenticated SMTP\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
                                        1. Enter the following settings to configure the account:\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                                          • Username:<\/strong>\u202fEnter your full email address\u00a0<\/li>
                                          • Password:<\/strong>\u202fEnter your mailbox password\u00a0<\/li>
                                          • Incoming IMAP\/POP server:<\/strong>\u202fmail.lcn.com\u00a0<\/li>
                                          • Incoming server port:<\/strong>\u202fEnter 993 for IMAP connections, 995 for POP connections\u00a0<\/li>
                                          • Authentication:<\/strong>\u202fBasic\u00a0<\/li>
                                          • Encryption:<\/strong>\u202fSSL\u00a0<\/li>
                                          • Outgoing SMTP server:<\/strong>\u202fmail.lcn.com\u00a0<\/li>
                                          • Outgoing server port:<\/strong>\u202f465, 587, 25 or 26\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
