This guide will explain how to access FTP and how to update or create FTP accounts for domains in Plesk using either the Power-user or Service-provider interfaces.<\/p>\n

FTP Client Settings<\/h2>\n

The following settings can be used to connect via FTP to the web-space for any domains added to Plesk.<\/p>\n

Hostname:<\/strong> Enter the IP address of your server or a domain\/hostname that resolves to the server IP.
\nUsername:<\/strong> Enter the Plesk domain\/subscription username for the domain, or FTP account username.
\nPassword:<\/strong> Enter the password for the Plesk account\/FTP account you are using to connect.
\nPort:<\/strong> 21
\nFolder:<\/strong> \/httpdocs\/<\/p>\n

\n

Please note:<\/strong> The folder path may be different if you have not created a new web-space for the domain, if you have added the domain to an existing web-space you will need to enter the correct folder path selected for the domain.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If the FTP connection fails, try changing the connection type in your FTP client from passive to active mode.<\/p>\n

Adding FTP accounts and Updating FTP login details<\/h2>\n

When you add a domain name to Plesk you will set a username\/password for the domain name that can be used to access FTP. We\u2019ll explain below how to reset these details and create additional FTP accounts for domains in Plesk.<\/p>\n

Power User interface<\/h3>\n

To update the default FTP user\/password for domains in Plesk follow these steps:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Open the websites and domains<\/strong> menu from the left column of the Plesk panel.<\/li>\n
  2. Scroll down this page to locate the domain name you need to update and select the web hosting access<\/strong> link.<\/li>\n
  3. The FTP username<\/strong> for the domain will be listed on the following page under system user.<\/li>\n
  4. You can change the FTP username<\/strong> and enter a new password<\/strong> here.<\/li>\n
  5. Click OK<\/strong> at the bottom of the page to apply any changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To create additional FTP accounts, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

    1. Open the websites and domains<\/strong> menu from the left column of the Plesk panel.<\/li>\n
    2. Scroll down this page to locate the domain name you need to update and select the FTP access<\/strong> link.<\/li>\n
    3. Click the button to add an FTP account<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. Enter an FTP account name<\/strong> (username).<\/li>\n
    5. Select a Home Directory<\/strong> for the account \u2013 leave this field blank if you want to allow the account to access the root folder for the domain.<\/li>\n
    6. Enter a password<\/strong> for the account or click to generate a password automatically.<\/li>\n
    7. Click OK<\/strong> at the bottom of the page to create the account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Service Provider interface<\/h3>\n

      2. Click the domain name that you want to access from the list on the following page.<\/li>\n
