This guide will explain the settings you need to setup your email address using POP or IMAP. For customers using LCN.com web hosting, WordPress hosting or email hosting. How to set up your email account on an iPhone

It's great to be able to access your email on the move. This guide shows you how to set up your iPhone to send and receive email using your LCN email account. As the iPad also uses the same Apple iOS (the iPhone software), this guide also applies to this. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. This procedure may vary slightly depending on what version of IOS you're using. This guide was made using IOS 6.1. Tap the Settings icon on your dashboard. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Tap Add Account. Tap Other. Choose Add Mail Account. Enter your full name, your email address, your password and a brief description of the account to help you find it later. Tap the Next button at the top right of your screen. Your iPhone will then try and determine as many settings as it can for you before loading the next page. Ensure that IMAP is selected (highlighted in blue). Under Incoming Mail Server you will see Host Name, enter mail.lcn.com here In the User Name field enter your full email address. In the Password field enter the password for that email address. Scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server and under Host Name enter mail.lcn.com. In the User Name field enter your full email address. In the Password field enter the password for that email address. Click the blue Next button at the top right of the screen. Your phone will now attempt to verify your details. You may see a pop up which states Cannot connect Using SSL. Click Yes and this will continue to verify. Your iPhone should now be set up and ready to receive email. Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change the port to 26 or 587. To do this: Locate your account via the Mail, Contacts, Calendars option, select your account and then tap the IMAP account to get in to the account settings. Tap SMTP - mail.lcn.com and again to edit the details. At the bottom of the screen will be an option to change the port, tap this and enter 26 or 587, and then hit Done.

How to set up your email account in Outlook 2010

This guide shows you how to set up Outlook 2010 with your email address. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. Choose the E-Mail account option and enter your details in the fields. Once all the fields have the correct information, select Next. If you receive a pop up box which states Allow this website to configure test@lcnsupport.co.uk server settings, simply select Allow and this will create your mailbox using the LCN.com server settings. You should now receive a message which states Your IMAP e-mail account is successfully configured.Select Finish and your mailbox will finish setting up. If this does not work for you, simply put a tick in the Manually configure server settings box, select Next and follow the next steps below. On the Add New Account window you'll now need to enter the following information: Your name and email address in the User Information section. Select IMAP in the Account Type dropdown. Enter mail.lcn.com into the Incoming mail server text box. Enter mail.lcn.com into the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) text box. Enter your full email address into the User Name text box. Enter your email address password into the Password text box. Then click the More Settings button. On the window that appears, click the Outgoing Server tab, then check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication box and click OK. Click Finish and Outlook will test your account settings. Once confirmed, click Close. Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change the port from 25 to 26 or 587. This can be done by choosing More settings and then Advanced and ensuring that the outgoing server (SMTP) is set to 26 or 587. Outlook will now test your username and password. Once it has finished click the Close button, then the Finish button the next screen and your email account will be set up and ready to go

How to set up your email account in Mac Mail

This guide shows you how to set up Mac Mail with your email address. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. Open Mac Mail - if the Welcome to Mail screen doesn't appear, click Add Account under the File menu at the top left of the screen. You'll then need to enter your full name, email address and password. Click Continue. You should then see the Incoming Mail Server screen. Choose the account type IMAP. Enter a description for this e-mail account and then enter mail.lcn.com in the Incoming Mail Server text box. Use your full e-mail address in the User Name text box and your e-mail account's password in the password text box.Then click Continue. You should then see the Outgoing Mail Server screen. Choose the account type IMAP. Enter a description for this server (e.g. LCN Outgoing Mail), enter mail.lcn.com in the Outgoing mail Server text box, check the Use Authentication box, and enter your full e-mail address and e-mail password. Then click Continue. The final step is the Account Summary screen. Check the details and click Create. Your email account should now be set up and ready to go! Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change to 26 or 587. To do this: Click Mail, Preferences and then Accounts. Under the account information for your mailbox, click your Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) and then Edit SMTP Server List. You can then choose your outgoing server and select the Advanced option. Check the Use custom port box and enter 26 or 587 here.

How to set up your email account in Outlook 2013

This guide shows you how to set up Outlook 2013 with your email address. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. How to set up your email account on an Android phone

Being able to access your email whilst away from the office is a great feature and that's why most people like to sync their mailbox to the mobile device too. This guide will give you step by step instructions on setting up your mailbox on an Android Device. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. The guide below was created using Android version 4.1.2 on a Samsung Galaxy S3 Touch the Menu button, then select Settings, Add Account and then Email. Enter your Email Address and Password in the fields and then press Next. Note: It might be helpful to choose Show Password to ensure the password is correct. The device will now check for auto set-up and should then ask you What type of account you wish to choose. You now need to choose IMAP account and on the next screen enter the following details: Incoming server settings In the Username field enter your full email address. In the Password field enter your email password. In the IMAP server field enter mail.lcn.com. The security needs to be set to none. The port for incoming mail is 143 . The device will attempt to connect to the incoming server. If you receive any errors, simply choose Edit Details and double check your details are correct. Once successful, you will be taken to the Outgoing server settings screen and you need to use the details below: Outgoing server settings In the SMTP server field enter mail.lcn.com. The security needs to be set to none. The port for outgoing mail is 25. Ensure that Require sign-in is ticked. In the Username field enter your full email address. In the Password field enter your email password. The device will attempt to connect to the outgoing server. If you receive any errors, simply choose Edit Details and double check your details are correct. Once successful, you will be taken to the Account options screen. You will need to set these to your personal preferences and then touch Next to continue. Lastly, you need to name your account on your device. We advise to name this as your full e-mail address to avoid confusion with any other accounts you may have. Touch Done to complete the email setup. Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change the port from to 26 or 587. To do this: Touch the Menu button and then select settings followed by Email and then Settings again. Choose your account name and then scroll down to Outgoing Settings. Scroll to the port field and change this to 26 or 587. Your Android device will now be able to send and receive mail using your email address.

How to create an email address

This guide will explain how to create an email address for domains registered to your LCN account, or linked to a Web Hosting plan in your account. If you do not have a hosting plan in place for your domain – you can create 1 free email address limited to 25MB disk space. You can also create up to 10 email forwarders at your domain – but cannot create a forwarder and free mailbox for the same address. See the following page for instructions on adding email forwarders for domains registered to your account: Adding email forwarders To create an email address for any domains registered or hosted within your LCN.com account – follow the instructions provided below: Log in to your LCN.com account. Click the Email Addresses icon from the ‘my account’ page of your account. Select the option to ‘add an email address’ under the ‘Email Addresses’ heading Enter the first part of the address (before the ‘@’ symbol) into the ‘Email Address’ field and select the appropriate domain name from the drop-down menu to the right. You will then need to enter a password for the address and re-type the password into the ‘confirm password’ field. Select the ‘Add email address’ button to create your address. You can then log in to your new email address via the LCN Webmail system: http://webmail.lcn.com To login enter the full email address as the username and enter the password set for the address. How to set up your email account in Windows Live Mail

This guide shows you how to set up Windows Live Mail with your LCN email account. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. Open Windows Live Mail and click the Accounts tab. Click the Email Button. The Add your email accounts screen should appear. Enter your details and check the Manually configure server settings box. Click Next. You should now see the Configure server settings screen. In the left column (Incoming server information) - you'll need to enter the following information: mail.lcn.com into the Server Address text box. The incoming port is 143. Remove any tick from the Requires a secure connection (SSL) box. Ensure Authenticate using Clear text is selected. Your full e-mail address in to the logon user name text box. In the right column, Outgoing server information - you'll need to enter mail.lcn.com into the Server address: text box, and check the Requires authentication box. Please use port 25 and then click Next. Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change the port to 26 or 587 under the Outgoing server information. You should now see the Your email account was added screen. Simply click the Finish button and your account should be set up!

How to archive IMAP messages in Outlook 2007/2010/2013

If your IMAP mailbox is full or is approaching the disk usage limit for your account, you may need to archive messages by copying them to an offline location on your computer. This will allow you to free up space within your mailbox without permanently deleting historic messages. The following guide should explain how to create an archive location in Outlook 2007/2010/2013 – the label/location of some options will vary between Outlook versions. Creating an Archive Data-File in Outlook If you do not have a local folder location/data file within Outlook for archiving messages – you can follow the steps below to create a new data file. Go to the ‘file’ menu (tools menu in Outlook 2007): Open the ‘account settings’ menu: Go to the tab within the account settings menu for ‘data files’: Select ‘add’ to create a new data file (.pst file): Enter a file-name for the data-file and select location if required – in this example the data file is named ‘Email archive file’: Then select ‘Ok’ to create the new data file. You should see now, that a new folder location has been added within the folders pane in Outlook: Right-click on the folder heading to add sub-folders to copy your mail items to: Archiving Messages in Outlook After creating an archive location/data-file - you can copy messages from your IMAP mailbox, to folders created under this data-file by highlighting the messages you want to archive in your IMAP account and dragging/dropping them in to the required folder under this data-file. The messages will then be moved to the selected location and automatically removed from your IMAP mailbox on the LCN server. You can also use the auto-archiving features in Outlook by going to the ‘file’ menu and selecting the menu for ‘Cleanup tools’, then selecting ‘Archive’: Select the folder that you want to archive – set a date range to archive message for and select the data-file location that the archived messages should be moved to. Select ‘ok’ to automatically archive messages for the selected folder/date-range: Once your account has completed synchronising in Outlook, you can check that the disk usage for your account has updated by logging in to Webmail: http://webmail.lcn.com.

How to add email addresses on Cloud hosting using cPanel

This guide will explain how to add email addresses for domains on Cloud hosting using cPanel. For customers on Cloud hosting using Vesta control panel, click here for your guide. If you are a customer on a LCN Web hosting plan, this guide will provide you with instructions on how to setup email addresses within your LCN.com account control panel. Log in to your WHM control panel Expand the menu ‘Account Information’ and select ‘List Accounts’ Locate the domain your email address uses and select the cPanel logo to the right hand side of it. This will load a new tab containing the main control of that domains service. Locate the ‘Email’ heading and select ‘Email Accounts’. Complete the following fields: Email: Password: Confirm Password: Mailbox Quota: Click ‘Create Account’ – This will then add the mailbox to your email Accounts list. From here you can change the password, change the quota, delete your mailbox and see how to configure mail clients.

How to set up your email account in Outlook 2011 for Mac

This guide shows you how to set up Outlook 2011 for Mac with your email address. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. Open Outlook and then choose Tools along the top navigation bar and then Accounts from the list. Choose the E-mail Account option and enter your e-mail address and password. When you enter your email address, other options will become available and you need to enter the following server settings as they appear below: User name: Your full e-mail address. Type: IMAP. Incoming server: mail.lcn.com. Leave both Override default port and Use SSL to connect unticked. Outgoing server: mail.lcn.com. Leave both Override default port and Use SSL to connect unticked. Once the details have been added, click Add Account. You now need to click the More Options button at the bottom of the account page and change Authentication to Use Incoming Server Info, then click OK. Your mailbox will now show on the right hand side of the e-mail program and you can now send and receive mail. Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change to 26 or 587. To do this: Select Tools from the top menu and then choose Accounts. Under the account you are trying to send mail from, place a tick in the Override default port option and chanege this to either 26 or 587. Close this window down and this will save the setting for you.

How to setup your email account on Windows 8

This guide shows you how to set up the built in metro mail on Windows 8 with your LCN email account. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. Open up Mail from the metro menu. Select view all accounts. This will then open a menu on the right side of the screen and from this menu choose Other account. Another menu will pop up and this will allow you to choose IMAP which is the service our mail servers use. Select IMAP and click connect. Connecting to our server requires your e-mail address and e-mail password. If you've got these handy, follow through the next points to establish a connection to your mailbox: In the Email address & username box, put your full email address and email password. In the incoming (IMAP) email server section, add mail.lcn.com and ensure the port number is 143. If a tick appears in the ‘Incoming server requires SSL box, remove this. In the outgoing (SMTP) email server section, add mail.lcn.com and ensure the port number is 25. If a tick appears in the ‘Outgoing server requires SSL box, remove this. The final two boxes, Outgoing server requires authentication & Use the same username and password to send and receive mail both need to ticked to ensure that you can send mail. Once all the required sections have been filled out, select Connect and your mailbox should be all set up! Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change the port to 26 or 587 under the Outgoing server information option.

How to set up your email account in Mozilla Thunderbird

This guide shows you how to set up Mozilla Thunderbird with your email address. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. If you are unsure of any of these details they can be found in your LCN account under the email addresses icon. Open Mozilla Thunderbird. Click Create a new account from the main screen. You should now see a new menu pop up entitled Mail Account Setup. You will be prompted to enter a Display Name, an Email Address and a Password. These details will be for the domain email address you intend to use with Mozilla Thunderbird. Click Continue when you have finished entering your details. As Thunderbird uses an auto-configure system for your email, your domain email settings should be pulled directly from the LCN.com server and auto-populate the remaining email server settings. If you entered all of your domain email details correctly, you should see a screen similar to this: Simply click Done and your mailbox will finish setting up. If you see a message which states Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account, please follow the next step below. You now need to Manually set up the server details in order create a connection from Thunderbird to our mail servers. Please use the following: Select IMAP for the incoming server type. Enter mail.lcn.com for the Incoming server hostname. Choose Port 143 and select None for the SSL type. Select Normal password for the Authentication. SMTP should be selected for the outgoing server type. Enter mail.lcn.com in to the Server hostname for the outgoing mail. Choose Port 25 and select None for the SSL type. Select Normal password for the Authentication. Finally, enter your full e-mail address in the Username text box. Select Done. Your account should now be set-up within Thunderbird and you will be taken back to the main screen. The new mailbox will be on the left hand side. Your email address should now be set up and ready to go! Please Note: Depending on your internet service provider, the default port of 25 should allow you to send e-mail. If you find that you are having problems sending mail, the first step would be to change the port to 26 or 587. To do this: Choose the View settings for this account option and then Outgoing Server (SMTP). Selecting edit will allow you to edit the server details and you need to change the default port to 26 or 587 here.

How to add email addresses on Cloud hosting using Vesta control panel

This guide will explain how to add email addresses for domains on Cloud hosting using Vesta control panel. For customers on Cloud hosting using cPanel, click here for your guide. If you are a customer on a LCN shared hosting plan, this guide will provide you with instructions on how to setup email addresses within your LCN.com account control panel. Setting up a domain for email in Vesta Login to your Vesta control panel Click on the ‘Mail’ option from the Vesta menu. Select the plus icon to add a mail domain and enter the domain name and customise the options below as required Domain: Enter a domain name AntiSpam Support: Select to enable spam filtering for email addresses. AntiVirus Support: Select to enable antivirus scanning for incoming mail. DKIM Support: Select to enable DKIM support - DKIM is a method for email authentication intended to help identify and block attempts at email spoofing. Verification is carried out using a public key stored as a TXT record within the DNS for a domain. Adding Email Addresses Click on the ‘Mail’ section of the Vesta menu. Hover over the domain you wish to create an email address for and select the option to ‘Add Account’. Complete the following fields to create an email address: Account: Enter the prefix of the email address you want to create. For example entering ‘info’ will create ‘info@yourdomain.co.uk’ Password: You can either enter a password of your choice or click the ‘generate’ option to generate a strong password. Advanced Options (Click to view additional options): Quota (MB): You can use this option to set a disk-space quota for the account. Aliases: You can use these options to set alias email addresses @ your domain that should be delivered to this mailbox. Forward to (one or more addresses): You can use these options to forward any mail sent to this address to another destination mailbox. Do not store forwarded mail: Select this option if you want email to be forwarded and not stored in a mailbox for this address. Changing Mailbox Passwords To change your mailboxes password return to the ‘Mail’ option at the top of your Vesta control panel and hover over the domain your email account is allocated to. Select the option to ‘List Accounts’. Locate and hover over the email account you want to reset the password on and select ‘Edit’. You can then enter a new mailbox password for the selected account and select ‘save’ to apply the new password.

How to enable TLS (Secure Email)

Transport layer Security (TLS) is a protocol designed to allow the sending of secure mail through any network. Most email programs will allow you to set up your email address with this added security feature and we advise you to do so if you are on an unsecured network or have any concerns regarding your email security. There should be an option within each email programs to add this extra security layer on either an already created address or on a new account. This is normally found in the Advanced section of the email program. This can be added on both the incoming and outgoing mail servers. Note If you a presented with an option of choosing SSL or TLS, select TLS as this is the protocol our servers support.

How to setup your email account on a Blackberry

It's great to be able to access your email on the move. This guide shows you how to set up your Blackberry to send and receive email using your LCN email account. Please make sure that you have the email address for the mailbox you are looking to set up as well as the password. To begin with, locate your handset from the Blackberry Website here: http://uk.blackberry.com/support/smartphones.html The Blackberry website can be used as a main point of reference should you find the instructions listed on this screen not quite specific to your particular handset From the Blackberry website, locate the specific Blackberry device that applies to you and click on the relevant icon. You should be presented with a screen similar to this: Locate the option for Create an email account?. It will be under the following section. You should now find yourself on a screen similar to this. With your Blackberry mobile phone, enter the Email Setup menu in accordance to the Blackberry guide above. If at this stage you are prompted to add an email account, select Other and proceed to the following menu. If you are alternatively asked to enter an email address and corresponding password before proceeding any further, this is where you enter the domain email address (yourname@yourdomain.com) and corresponding password you made a note of. If the auto-configure errors stating it is 'unable to set up' your email account, in the next step of the email setup process you will be able to enter the email account settings manually. Whilst configuring your e-mail account on the Blackberry, you will need your e-mail server settings. When prompted, choose the option for I will provide the settings or a similar phrase. This will allow you to manually configure the remaining e-mail account settings to get your domain e-mail to your phone. Use the following LCN.com email setting details when prompted: Email Type: IMAP Email Server: mail.lcn.com Email Username: Your full email address Email Password:Your e-mail password Once all the settings/fields have been entered, complete the e-mail account set up and you are all finished. You can now be able to send mail using your Blackberry!

Before you get started, you’ll need to have your email address and password handy. If you can’t remember these details, you can get them from your LCN.com account. Let’s get started… Automatic Setup Open the File menu and click the Add Account button. Make sure that the E-mail Account box is checked before entering your preferred screen name and completing the remaining fields before clicking Next. If a pop-up box appears asking you to allow your email service provider to configure server settings, click Allow to proceed. Click Finish once you receive a message telling you that set-up is complete. Your browser does not support the video tag. Manual Setup If the above steps fail, you can try again by checking the Manual setup or additional server types option after clicking on Add Account. Select POP or IMAP Complete all of the fields using the details below: Your name and email address from the User Information section. Select POP or IMAP as the account type. Enter mail.lcn.com for both the incoming and outgoing mail servers. Enter your complete email address into the User Name box. Enter your LCN.com email password in the Password box. Click More Settings followed by the Outgoing Server tab. Click on My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and click OK. Click Finish to let Outlook 2016 test your email account.
