Making and storing backups is an essential process for server administrators. Whether it's a small personal cloud or a worldwide corporate cloud, backups are often overlooked, but they’re super important.

This guide shows LCN cloud hosting customer how to setup and manage their Backup slot.

Let’s get started…

Backing up your cloud

  1. Log in to your LCN account.
  2. Click Cloud Servers.
  3. Click Manage next to the Cloud you’d like to backup.
  4. Scroll down and click Manage Backups.

  5. Please note: if you haven’t purchased a Cloud Backup slot yet, you can do so by clicking on ADD TO BASKET and following the checkout process.

  6. Click Set-up Now.
  7. You can now choose between an immediate one-off backup or a scheduled regular backup.

    • Backup your server now:
      This option will allow you to take an immediate one-off backup of your server.

    • Enter a name for your backup in the Name field.
    • Click BACKUP NOW.


    • Regular backup:
      This option allows you to schedule a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly backup.
      Please note: any older backups will be removed each time this backup process is run.

    • Choose how often you want the backup to run using the Frequency drop down.
    • Choose the time of day you’d like the backup to run using the Time drop downs.
    • Enter a name for your backup, or use the day and time name that auto populates.
    • Click CONFIGURE.



That’s it! You’ve successfully backed up your cloud.


Restoring your Cloud from backup

  1. Log in to your LCN account.
  2. Click Cloud Servers.
  3. Click Manage next to the Cloud you’d like to restore.
  4. Scroll down and click Manage Backups.
  5. Click Manage next to the backup you’d like to restore.
  6. Scroll down to the Restore section.
  7. Click RESTORE NOW.
  8. A confirmation box will pop up showing the Backup Name and Last taken time and date. Once you are happy that this information is correct, tick the I understand that any updates made after this backup was taken will be lost option.
  9. Click RESTORE NOW.

The restore will now start. Restore times can vary depending on the size of the cloud and the amount of content held on the cloud. You can check the progress of the restore on the Manage Backups page.




That’s it! You’ve successfully restored your cloud backup.
