Setting up your personalised email with Outlook 2007

This guide will show you to setup and receive email from your personalised mailbox with Microsoft Outlook 2007

Please note: In order to set up a personalised email account in Outlook 2007 with us you will have need to purchased one of our web hosting packages and set up a Mailbox via your LCN.com control panel.

Setting up Outlook 2007:

  1. Start Microsoft Outlook 2007. When the Startup Wizard displays, click Next. If the Startup wizard does not start automatically when you open Outlook 2007 or you have existing email accounts set up with it then you will need to goto the 'Tools' menu, select 'Account Settings', and then choose 'New'. In the window that appears select "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP, then click Next."
  2. This will take you to the 'Account Configuration' window, select yes and then click Next.
  3. On the Auto Account Setup page, enter the following:

    Your Name:
    Enter the name you wish to email recipients to be able to see.

    E-mail Address:
    Enter your email address.

    Password:
    Enter the password you created for your mailbox.

    Retype Password:
    Retype the password.

    Select 'Manually configure server settings or additional server types' and click Next.
  4. You will now be directed to the 'Choose E-mail Service' window. Select 'Internet E-mail' and click Next.
  5. On the next page enter your email account information.

    Your Name:
    Enter your first and last name.

    E-mail Address:
    Your full email address.

    Account Type:
    Select POP3.

    Incoming mail server:
    Input pop.lcn.com for your incoming mail server.

    Outgoing mail server:
    Input post.lcn.com for your outgoing mail server.

    i User Name:
    Your full email address.

    Password:
    Enter the password you created for your Mailbox.

  6. If you want Outlook 2007 to remember your password tick the 'Remember Password' box.
  7. Click 'More Settings'
  8. Click the 'Outgoing Server' tab. Tick 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' and select 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server'.
  9. Click the 'Advanced' tab. Ensure that you have 110 for your incoming server (POP3) and 25 for your outgoing server (SMTP) and then click OK. If you have trouble sending email you can also try 26 for your outgoing server (SMTP) port.
  10. Click 'Test Account Settings'. Outlook 2007 will send itself a message to test your configuration. Once this is complete, click Next.
  11. Click Finish. Your email account is now set up.
