How to transfer your domain name to us

This guide will explain how to transfer your domain name to LCN. Moving your domain is simple and by transferring it to us you’ll get great service, free features and competitive prices!  

The transfer process varies depending on the type of domain you are trying to move, however we’ve got you covered. 

We’ve done the hard work for you and provided multiple step by step guides below for the leading domain name providers: 

 Let’s get started… 

Transferring UK domains (.co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .uk) to LCN 

  1. To start, Log in tor your LCN Account and head to your Control Panel. If you haven’t got an account yet you can create one here
  1. Float your mouse over Services and then click on Domains & Services from the dropdown. 
  1. Click Add Domain 
  1. From the options provided you will want the section headed with Transfer a domain to usUnder this header you will want to click the link that says Click here to begin the transfer process 
  1. You will be presented with a number of options, the first section titled Transfer a Nominet domain (ending .uk) will have an option Click here to transfer .uk domainsClick this to continue. 
  1. Read through the information provided on the following page and enter the Domain(s) you would like to transfer into the box provided. 

Please note: You will need to make sure you update your domains IPS tag to LCN with your losing registrar. If this is not completed within 60-days of your transfer request the transfer will fail to complete. Don’t worry though, you can start another transfer in request if you need more time.

  1. Click Proceed 
  1. You will be presented with the Whois information for the domains you have entered. Read through to make sure the domains you have entered are correct. When ready you can click Confirm. 

Please note: When transferring your .uk domain to LCN we’ll keep your nameservers the same. If you’re moving your website and email services to us, you may need to update these using this guide

That’s it! You have now started the transfer of your .uk domain and it will show in your LCN account. 

Please Note: The speed of the transfer relies on how quickly your current registrar releases your domain. This normally completes within 24 hours.

Transferring .com .net .org .biz .info .mobi .us or new gTLD to LCN 

Before starting the transfer process, you’ll need to do the following: 

  • Ask your current domain provider to unlock the domain and provide you with the domain’s Authorisation Code (also known as an EPP Code) 

Once this is done you can proceed with the transfer, using the instructions below: 

Please Note: Your transfer will cost £6.49+VAT, depending on the domain extension and will have 1 year added to its overall registration period once completed. 

  1. Log in tor your LCN Account and head to your Control Panel. If you haven’t got an account yet you can create one here
  1. Float your mouse over Services and then click on Domains & Services from the options. 
  1. Select Add Domain 
  1. You will be presented with a number options choose the one that matches the domain you would like to transfer. 
  1. Read through the information provided and enter your Domain(s) in the box at the bottom of the page. 
  1. Next you will confirm your domain details. Make sure the information provided is correct. 
  1. Choose if you would like the domain to keep its current Nameservers or change to our Nameservers once we receive it. 
  1. Enter your Authorisation code at the bottom the page then click Confirm. 
  1. If you are ready to finish your transfer on the next page click Proceed, if you would like to add further domains for transfer click Add More and repeat the above steps. 
  1. Complete the checkout process.  

Please Note: During the checkout process you will be asked to complete the correct Registrant information for the domain name on completion of transfer in. It will default to the information on your account but can be amended by clicking onto the NAME & ADDRESS field and selecting “Add a new address” 

  1. Your current provider may then send you an email asking if you want to approve the outbound transfer of the domain. 
  1. If the transfer isn’t approved, it’ll time out after 60 days and the process will need to be re-started. 

That’s it! You have now started your domain transfer. 

Please Note: A domain transfer can take 4 to 10 days to complete.

Transferring a .ie domain 

Before starting the transfer process, you’ll need to do the following: 

  • Ask your current domain to provide you with the domain’s Authorisation Code (also known as an EPP Code) 

Once this is done you can proceed with the transfer, using the instructions below. 

Please Note: Your transfer will cost £24.99+VAT, and will have 1 year added to its overall registration period once completed. 

  1. First, log in to your LCN Account and head to your Control Panel. If you haven’t got an account yet you can create one here
  1. Float your mouse over Services and then click on Domains & Services from the options. 
  1. Select Add Domain 
  1. Scroll to the section with heading Transfer an IEDR (.ie) domain name to LCN and click on the option Click here to transfer .ie domains 
  1. Read through the information provided and enter your Domain in the first box at the bottom of the page followed by your Authorisation code in the second box. 
  1. Click Proceed 
  1. If you are ready to finish your transfer on the next page click Proceed. 

That’s it! You have now started your domain transfer.
