How do I get my website onto the search engines?
There is no simple answer to this question. All of the major search engines such as google, yahoo, msn, ask jeeves etc, use programs called robots or spiders to analyse a web site and give it a relevancy score. This score decides where a site will appear in that particular search engines listings.
To get your page spidered you will need to submit your web address to the individual search engines via their submit pages. However this alone will not necessarily get your site onto the search engine.
As you can appreciate the Internet is global and chances are that someone somewhere has a site almost identical to yours. This means that the spiders give points depending on the information embedded in the HTML of a web page, most specifically the information contained within the META tags.
