An Overview Of LCN Webmail
LCN introduced the webmail application to run alongside the pop mail boxes currently in use with the LCN hosting. It is designed to allow the user to access their emails from within an internet browser anywhere in the world.
Webmail connects directly to a server to retrieve and send any emails which are stored on the server. As the LCN system is used as a pop (PC based mail system) it has the same restrictions on size as the mail account on your hosting platform. This is why it uses as a support tool to outlook rather than a sole based mail client. For instance the gmail and yahoo systems are purely server based and have rows of servers supporting the mail applications. The LCN system does not have this as we are purely a hosting company and emails are an added extra onto the hosting platform.
The LCN webmail system does require some setting up before full use can be achieved.
The following steps will give you an overview of how to use Webmail:
1) Access webmail either through your LCN account or with the following URL: webmail.lcn.com
2) Log onto webmail with the email address set up on your hosting platform and the password you supplied this email address.
3) In the top right hand corner is a link called “settings”. Click on this link and then click on “identities”.
4) Once you are within the “identities” section you will need to fill out the following boxes:
: Display name
: E-Mail
: Organization
: Reply-to
It’s up to you if you wish to add a signature for this address.
Once all these boxes are filled out the webmail is then ready to use.
Please remember when storing information on webmail there are size limits. Once these limits have been reached webmail will stop emails from being sent and received due to space requirements.
Due to the space limitations we would strongly advise webmail to be used as a support for your pop based mail accounts. It’s very useful to receive and send emails while you are away from your PC. However, if you find you are using this application solely for use we would advise using a dedicated server or VPS server to support this type of use.
