The Benefits of moving to our New Hosting Platform

Many of our customers still currently use our Legacy Hosting Plans which reside on older, less resilient servers. These are gradually being discontinued and we would like to advise our customers of the benefits of upgrading to our new Hosting Platform.

The new platform offers the following features:

  • Stable and reliable hosting servers
  • 99.9% guaranteed Network uptime
  • 8 new packages offering a wider choice of options
  • Many free bonus features including the award winning Serif Web building software with Starter, Dynamic or Premium packages worth £60.

and much more! You can view information on our new hosting packages here:

We understand that Frontpage is used widely for designing websites and is currently compatible with our older UN and NT Hosting Packages.  However although we do not support the facility for ‘Frontpage Extensions’ on our new servers it is still possible for you to design a site in Frontpage should you have no requirement for the enabling of extensions.  This in itself can be achieved via FTP.  Should you wish to know more on how to use FTP for publishing, please read the following article:

I need Frontpage Extensions, as I use Mailforms!

You are indeed correct, should you have designed your website in Frontpage, and ultimately designed a page to act as a mailform – you will undoubtedly require the enabling of the extenstions!  Did you know however, that you could achieve similar results on either our Dynamic or Premium Hosting plans?  Both these plans not only provide you with free website design software, but it is PHP and Perl enabled!  MailForms can be easily constructed in PHP and there is no better place to start than with our own blog article on the topic, see below:

http://www.lcn.com/blog/2009/11/using-php-forms-to-send-e-mail-php-formmail/

Writing your pages in a compatible scripting language negates the need of enabling extensions – it’s the same principle.  If you are unsure whether your site is using extensions on a UN or NT hosting – and you have constructed your web site in front page, please feel free to contact our customer support line on our local call rate number or use our free ticketing system for a member of support to review your hosting requirements.

Should you have taken an interest in moving to our newer platform, please call our Support Centre who will be able to advise you on the Upgrade Procedure.  Switching to a new package is simple and can be completed within as little as a few minutes.

Call +44 (0)1438 342 490 and get your site hosted on the best LCN.com package for your requirement needs!

Other benefits of our new hosting platform include multi-year hosting discounts, free mailguard spam filter and a free SMTP server.

Thank you for reading, and I welcome any feedback to this post.

Frontpage was superceded by Expression Web 3 years ago yet there is no mention of it in your information, please advise.

    Hi Frances,

Thank you for your comment. Expression Web works in a similar way to Frontpage and also uses extensions. You can follow the same advice provided in this blog in order to publish files without the extensions switched on.
