Data Centre Progress
Wow…it’s certainly been a busy few weeks for our data centre build. Over the past week we seem to have had 10+ contractors on site every day and it’s all been GO, GO, GO!!!
The network cabling has been completed and the cooling guys are ahead of schedule on the installation of the pipework. The electrical contractors have completed the lighting fit-out, which has certainly brightened up the data centre….the contractors can now actually see what they are doing! They are also well underway with installation of all power cabling to the cabinets.
We have started to take delivery of some of the larger equipment. Last week the DENCO air handling units and condensers were installed, together with the power switch gear. EDF energy have supplied our sub-station, which has been sited and the cabling for this is close to being completed. Next week will be taking delivery of the Riello UPS units (uninterruptible power supply) and batteries, as well as our standby diesel generator.
Our Internet connections are now active, we have 2 fully diverse fibre connections giving us automated failover resilience in case our primary connection fails.
Not too long now to the go live date. We are very excitied about how things have progressed and can’t wait to install our first servers into the cabinets. We believe we have created a data centre that will rival any other on performance, reslience, reliability and energy effeciency. It’s all part of our commitment to our customers to constantantly improve the services we offer.
