Customer warning - Do not be misled - or pressured into buying

Nominet UK is alerting customers to be wary of pressurised sales techniques. Currently Nominet UK are undergoing proceedings in the Chancery Division of the High Court against a company for trademark infringement and passing off.

Nominet UK are warning customers not be pressurised into registering a domain name through an unsolicited call. Pressure selling tactics such as claiming that a domain name is about to be registered by a third party are very rarely true. Nominet UK suggest if in doubt about the reliability of a domain name offer, contact your original Internet Service Provider or registration agent who can advise you on the most sensible course of action.

Are all your options covered?

When you purchased your web name what did you buy and why? Normally the answer to this question is, because it was your company name or something relevant to the service/theme you had planned for the site you wanted to launch. There were probably other options available in the form of spellings of web sites and/or .biz, .net or even .me.uk .etc. Did you register all the options or is there a chance that someone else could register a very similar name to yours and this could cause your customers confusion? You may not be worried about this or feel that your name is unique and therefore would be of no use to others but if you want to ensure "all your options are covered" then go to www.lcn.com and register now!
